Does CBD Help your Immune System

Cannabis has been used as a medicine by civilizations for thousands of years. However, until recently, there hasn't been much research on the science of the cannabis and how it interacts with our biological systems. We still have very much to learn and more research needs to be conducted, but we are here to tell you what we know so far. 

Moreover, to understand CBD & the immune system, we must first understand the immune system and how it functions. When a persons immune system is functioning properly, it enables the body to fight bacteria, viruses & disease. 


How Does CBD Benefit the Immune System?

The immune system is a very complex and is compromised of a network of organs, tissues and cells that all work to keep us healthy. White blood cells are a key to immune system function, and the white blood cell count is a key metric in determining immune system health & functionality. White blood cells operate seek and destroy missions to protect the body & keep our biological systems healthy. 

The immune system plays a role in detecting cells that are malfunctioning in our bodies stopping the growth cells that could potentially turn into tumours. So, in addition to protecting cells, the immune system also kills cells to keep our immune systems healthy. 

In healthy immune systems, inflammation can be a response to fighting off pathogens and keeping you healthy. However, sometimes immune system dysfunction can cause chronic inflammation in some cases. CBD is very helpful when looking to help reduce inflammation. 

Does CBD help your immune system? We need more research to give a definite answer, but we do know that the endocannabiniod system plays a role promoting biological balance. So CBD probably does play some role in the immune system, but we need more scientific studies & research more. Scientists first discovered the endocannabiniod system in the early 1900s. The ECS helps regulate a number of biological systems in the human body.

There are two main receptors that play a role with ECS (Endocannabiniod System). Those receptors are the CB1 receptor & CB2 receptor. Moreover the body produces endogenous endoncannabinoids that interact with these receptors. The ECS is a homestatic regulator continually working to maintain a state of biological balance. 

What's more is that both CB1 & CB2 receptors have both been found on immune cells. This shows a direct link between the endocannabiniod system & the immune system. We cant say for sure but there is a definitely a direct link between them both.
